After looking at the work of American artist Martha Alf, we created some 'calm' still life groups of pears, using a range of media.
Sue's still life using water soluble pencils
Patricia's 'mixed media' pears, using pastels pencils & water
Hilary's beautifully observed pencil drawing
And the other Hilary's colourful pastel drawing!

This week............
Well its been a busy week, back teaching after a break of nearly 3 months! Also starting to attend a short mixed media art course myself AND a life drawing class on Thursday!
In the classes I teach we kicked off the year with 'taking a line for a walk' and creating a funky observational drawingin pastels from the 1920's style still life group I put together. Here are some results -
Hilary's sketch on newspaper!
Anne's sketch on brown paper

this afternoon
I spent a few hours today with a Chinese Brush in my hand, creating Koi fish swirling in water, a solitary Sparrow and some red & purple(!) Cherry Blossoms...............I can't share them with you because I gave them to my friend Tim who advised and helped me..........I then moved on to creating a view of the nearby fields in the style of Van Gogh........fairly productive afternoon.
